 We are slowly bringing the marine life to its knees. What if it fights back? Synthetic clothe materials in their nature form being non-biodegradable, can be easily mistaken for food by the marine animals. The release of microplastics and microfibers from the garments end up in their system. Chemicals from decomposing clothing escaping into the water affect the peaceful co-existence of marine life. This food chain endangers our health too as we consume from the marine life. Landfills of clothe waste is not only an economic hindrance but also its permanency builds up over 200 years before its decomposition. We can stop this cycle through suitable disposal of clothing that harms the environment, especially through wastewater.

What are you willing to do so that  plastic does not  find its way into the water bodies? The most effective and sustainable way to beat pollution on our marine ecosystem has to do with us having a radical mindset shift. This goes a long way in our consumption rate. Are we consuming more plastics than we need? We need to encourage more consumption of  environmentally conscious plastic alternatives than the ones we dispose off irrationally? Proper formal waste disposal should be enacted too. Recycle bins strategically placed by the beaches to allow us collect plastic waste and reprocess it into new products. This reduces the amount of plastic in the waste stream. Land litter disposes off an estimate of 80% onto marine life. Ocean cleanup can not beat this kind of scale successfully. This has everything to do with shifting from plastic pollution to plastic solution.

  If we expect thriving results from the spaces we occupy and the surroundings that we do not occupy-then, taking action is the first step to nourishing these environments. Information is highly accessible; awareness has been vibrant. The lingering question is, why are we not acting now? It should occur to us that, in its microscopic phases-the face of the earth is slowly deteriorating. Our egotistical human activities have been benefiting us at the expense of compromising mother nature as it suffers from| our negligence. Informal waste disposal and management of tonnes of single-use plastic products has been and is hazardous to our environment. Its production still tops the manufacturing industry charts, yet its disposal is still wanting. Landfills are a source of income for many, but poorly managed landfills are now homes that cultivate land and air pollution.
